Recruitment Method

• Verification on crew's documents and certificates, including its authenticity and minimum 1 year validity from the sign on date.
• Verification on crew's experiences, based on crew's sea service record as mentioned in seaman book / discharge book and by taking references from previous employers if required.
• Assessment's for Deck / Engine Competency and English ability.
• Screening and Selection based on Principal's and STCW requirements.

Crew Retention

We manage our ex-crew who had performed excellent role on board on the first contract to join back for the next employment, to have better and longer career level. We do analysis for the future career, promotion as well as training needs. The retention rate will be maintained as high as possible, like more than 80%. – 85%.

Crew Qualification

Each of our candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Hold genuine, valid & appropriate STCW 2010 certificates in accordance to his job level and flag state licenes.
• Hold proper and valid travel documents.
• Good command of English, knowledge of ISM/ISPS/MARPOL.
• Has a minimum 6 months - 1 year experience at the same rank & type of ship, including working with different nationalities.

Crew Appraisal, De-Briefing, Upgrading & Training

• For each off-signer, we review crew’s performances and attitudes based on our assessment and appraisal which we get from Master, same are being used by the company for the purpose of de-briefing, upgrading, training or rank promotion in case required, as well as for re-employment.
• Competency & value added courses are done thru Seastar Educare (our training division tied up with South
  Tyneside College, UK) based within our premises. To maintain the integrity and quality standards of our value added courses and training, it is agreed that all courses to be vetted through our in house quality standards prior its delivery to our nominated candidate in India.

Pre-Employment

• Strict medical examination, includes ILO, DNA, HIV & USG, plus any additional tests as per principal’s requirement at the appointed and recognized hospital/clinic.
• Arranging of all joining formalities & signing the Employment contract on behalf of the employer.
• Briefing on principal’s policies and regulations.
• Briefing on ship’s operations, safety and procedures.
• Provision of working gears, in case required.
• Flag state license arrangement.
• Accommodation will be arranged for ex-crew before departure (max. for 2 nights) - for joiner who live out of Mumbai, in case required.

Crew Planning

• We assist all our principals to make & arrange crew planning by communicating the crew status to them through an availability list on every weekly basis. This helps our principals to keep a close track of all our ex-crew & their retention status as well.
• We feel one candidate retained is one candidate sourced, hence retention of good crew is an integral part & important factor for any company to function & prosper.
• Without the support of onboard & onshore good staff no company can progress & to attain same a proficient planning is surely needed.

Document & Database

• All documents are verified and updated in every joining, including all the document / certificates possessed by the crew, medical examination result and employment contract.
• The crew databases are maintained, updated and monitored through our customized crewing online software "Seastar Crew Care" where real time data is available at all times.
• Underpinning the high standards of services offered, we provide a dedicated special login id & password to every principal where-in they can directly access the crew credentials & documents without depending on us for quick actions.
• In this way, we aim to easily find and track the documentation of crew online at any point of time (24 x 7) in case needed.
